Marisa is currently the Strategic Advisor to the Chief Nursing Executive at the University of Michigan – Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, MI and is a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN®). She previously served as a staff specialist with the organization’s nursing leadership team, with concentration in surgical services subsegment in the Adult Hospitals.

Previous projects include implementing an electronic SBAR for internal transfers and a separate SBAR for external transfers, fall prevention, reduction for length of stay, and safety assistant guidelines. Most recently she completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Transformational Leadership: Systems from Rush University.

Kristi Reguin-Hartman has more than 20 years of experience in acute care nursing, professional development, and advanced practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Her expertise in technology implementation, product management and clinical education drives her focus on streamlining workflows through data-driven approaches. She started her nursing journey with an ADN from Nassau Community College in Long Island, New York and has completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of North Carolina – Wilmington where she authored the 2022 CTHAT Nursing Workload Tool for Medical-Surgical Nurses. Kristi currently works as a Clinical Transformation Manager for Philips Healthcare in the Hospital Patient Monitoring division and as Clinical Instructor with East Carolina University. She volunteers for the North Carolina Nurses Association and has served as Director for the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses since 2018.

Catherine, who is from Berea, OH, is a clinical nurse specialist who provides direct care and expert consultation for patients in medical-surgical units who are experiencing poor mental health.

Her volunteer work with AMSN has included partnering with the American Psychiatric Nurses’ Association to develop competencies for the care of patients at risk for suicide. In 2020, she served as a content reviewer for the Core Curriculum for Medical-Surgical Nursing, behavioral health chapter, and Care of the Patient with Psychiatric Co-morbidities, electronic module.

Dr. Bartzak, who is from Natick, MA, is a hospital nurse clinician with 19 years of direct nursing care of patients with infectious diseases and traumas. She is currently a staff nurse at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Burlington, MA.

She has held many volunteer positions for AMSN including research project reviewer; 2014 Core Curriculum for Medical-Surgical Nursing Task Force member; Clinical Practice Committee member, Research Committee member, and column editor for MedSurg Matters.

Alissa Brown, MSN, RN, CMSRN, NPD-BC, is a nurse liaison for the Utah Quality Advancement Laboratory for the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. Alissa has been a regular volunteer with AMSN, on the Med-Surg Moments podcast, as an item writer and reviewer, and a volunteer with ANPD, working on the implementation committee. Alissa has over 15 years of experience working with medical-surgical patients, staff, and families. She is passionate about life-long learning, psychological safety in the workplace, and advancing medical surgical nursing as a specialty.

Kristi serves as the U.S. Director of Clinical and Client Services for TillaCare, Ltd. based in Israel. With over 28 years in the acute care setting, consulting, and academia, she is known for her ability to lead innovative programs and enable business and clinical operations through evidence-based practice. As a scientist, Dr. Campoe's program of research addresses medical-surgical nursing, patient safety, and medical device safety while incorporating human factors.

Kristi is a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN®) and a Certified Healthcare Quality Professional (CPHQ®). Her AMSN volunteer work includes service to the MEDSURG Journal as an Editorial Board Member, leadership roles as President/Vice-President of AMSN Florida Gulf Coast Chapter #223, and AMSN Research Grant Reviewer.

Mark Lee, MS, BSN, RN-BC, practices as a Nurse Scholar at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He serves in the role of charge nurse, nurse preceptor and in direct patient care for the 23-bed Complex Medicine Unit, an AMSN PRISM Award® recipient unit. A constant in Mark’s nursing journey has been his desire to lift the voice of the clinical nurse, having served as chair of the Emory Healthcare Professional Nurse Practice Council for nursing professional governance, inaugural member of the Emory Healthcare EmWELL RN Clinical Care Committee focused on nurse wellness, and as committee chair for the Emory University Woodruff Alumni Advisory Board. He has extended nursing into the community and was featured as “Nurse Mark” on Disney Junior’s animated television series Doc McStuffins in a special episode to promote handwashing in children. With AMSN, Mark is a past recipient of the AMSN Higher Education Scholarship and has engaged with AMSN through the AMSN PRISM Award® designation process. Mark is passionate about the specialty of medical-surgical nursing and believes in the power of medical-surgical nurses to transform patient care. He obtained his BSN from Emory University and his MS from Georgetown University.

Cindy is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Alvernia University. She teaches in classroom, clinical and simulation settings in the prelicensure baccalaureate program, with a focus on facilitating active engagement in learning.

Previous experience includes roles as a clinician and Clinical Nurse Specialist in medical-surgical and maternal-child nursing.

Michael is a Clinical Nurse Specialist who has been practicing at ChristianaCare in Newark, Delaware since 2018. Certified as an adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist, medical-surgical registered nurse, and healthcare quality professional, Michael has over 10 years of nursing experience in the acute care setting. Within his organization, he is involved in a variety of unit-based, service-line, and system-level initiatives that focus on improving nursing professional practice, the culture of safety, and patient outcomes. In addition to volunteer work within the AMSN, Michael is a member of various professional nursing organizations nationally and within the Delaware Valley region.

Marie is a passionate leader with a strong commitment to develop nurses to their highest potential through empowerment. After graduating from Texas Tech University in 2019, Marie worked for 3 years as a medical surgical nurse. Marie has specialized in cardiac and neurological medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and is a Certified Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN®). She continues to work towards clinical excellence within her organization through quality and leadership. Marie is currently working towards earning her Masters of Science in Nursing Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Cindy began her nearly 40-year nursing career in the USAF. She has experience in several nursing specialties, including labor and delivery, pediatrics, school nursing, infection control, and utilization review, but settled in the specialty of medical-surgical nursing. She has 14 years of experience as a nurse educator, teaching medical-surgical nursing. Cindy has been certified both as a CMSRN and as a Certified Nurse Educator (CEN), since 2009.

Currently serving as the Executive Director for AMSN and MSNCB, Matt has over 20 years of association management experience. Before joining AMSN, he was the Chief Operating Officer of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL). Under his leadership, he oversaw AONL's operations and strategic direction.

Before AONL, Matt served in various leadership roles at the American Hospital Association (AHA), most immediately serving as the vice president of strategic operations of its membership unit. Responsibilities within AHA included revising the strategic plan, creating organizational goals and oversight that supported it, and promoting better coordination and alignment across the organization.
