We hope all of your questions and concerns have been addressed in this comprehensive FAQ regarding the 26th Annual AMSN Convention on October 12-15, 2017, at the Palm Springs Convention Center and Renaissance Hotel

Registration

How much is the registration fee? Can I save by registering early?

The registration fee for the full 4-day main conference is:

Early Bird Specials (Postmarked by 8/14)

  • $450- Member
  • $550 – Regular

Regular/ Onsite Registration (Registration after 8/14)

  • $515 – Member
  • $615 - Regular

What if I have a large group? (3+)

All individual within the group must be AMSN members.

  • $425 – Early Bird Special Postmarked by 8/14
  • $475 – Regular/ Onsite registration

How can I join and register so I’ll receive member pricing right away?

Purchasing AMSN membership will provide your member discount immediately.

You have several options found on the AMSN Website - Join and/or Renew page.

  • Join and or renew online.
  • Mail or Fax: Print & complete Membership form found at the link above.

Are there military discounts available?

We do not offer any military discounts for the convention.

I’m a member but my discount isn’t showing up online.

Please check that you are logged in to your member account. You should see member pricing before you’re asked to enter payment.

If you’re still having trouble, please use the Convention Information Contact Form with your concern and the National Office will help you.

I registered already, but forgot/don't know how to get my member discount.

Your member pricing will come up automatically once you are logged in to your member account.

What food and refreshments does AMSN provide during the convention?

How do I register on behalf of someone else? (a supervisor, an employee, etc.)

To register on behalf of someone else you must have their user name and password or create an account for new visitors.

Where do I go to register online?

You may register at the Official AMSN Convention Website.

I didn't receive a confirmation.

Be sure to check your spam folder for your confirmation email. Your email server also may have blocked it.

Please use the Convention Information Contact Form and let us know if you have not received your confirmation email.

I just tried to register online and I’m not sure if it went through/I received an error message.

You should receive an auto-generated email confirming your registration and payment within minutes of registering.

Please use the AMSN Annual Convention Questions Form and let us know if you have not received your confirmation email.

I know I have a login, but I can’t log in to register.

Please use the Convention Information Contact Form before proceeding further and the National Office will help you.

Can I bring a guest? What will they be allowed to attend?

You may bring a guest to Thursday’s opening ceremony and reception for the fee of $30.

Hotel/Palm Springs

Where is the hotel? How much is it per night?

IMPORTANT NOTE: AMSN does not use a housing bureau for hotel reservations. No one from AMSN or the conference hotel will ever call you to make a hotel reservation. Only make reservations through the links here, on our official convention website, or by calling the hotel directly.

Im planning to arrive earlier in the week/stay later in the week. Can I still get the special hotel rate?

The discounted convention rates are available until September 13, 2017, or until the room block is full.

Reservations made before or after this date will be subject to space and rate availability. (All taxes are subject to change without notice.)

When do I have to book my room to receive the special AMSN registrant rate?

The convention rate is available through September 13, 2017 or until the room block is full.

Reservations received after this date will be accepted on a space and rate available basis.

Is smoking allowed in the hotel

The Marriott and Hilton have a 100% smoke-free policy, which includes all guest rooms, pool, and other common areas.

Guest who smoke are permitted to do so outside and in designed areas.

Will all convention activities take place within the hotel?

Renaissance Palm Springs has been designated as the official hotel for the 2017 Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses Annual Convention.

Meeting space will be at the hotel as well as the Palm Springs Convention Center.

What is nearby that I can do for fun?

Many attendees plan to stay for a couple extra days to explore the city, and there are many exciting options!

Can the National Office help me find a roommate?

No, though you may connect with other individuals through the AMSN Convention HUB.

Sessions/Handouts

Can I make session changes?

You may make a session change(s) by calling the National Office toll-free at 866-877-2676.

How do I download handouts?

You can download handouts by the instructions received in your email.

Handouts will also be available to download in the convention app when it becomes available.

Contact Hours

How many contact hours will the convention offer?

The main 4-day conference will offer 17.25 contact hours.

Where do I earn contact hours?

You will receive information in your program book at the conference, as well as an email in the weeks following the conference with instructions.

To earn contact hours, you will need to log in with your AMSN username and password, redeem a conference code (provided at the conference), and complete session evaluations.

Is there a deadline for earning contact hours?

You will have approximate 4 weeks after the conference ends to complete your session evaluations to earn contact hours.

Where do I print a “certificate of attendance”?

AMSN does not mail certificates of attendance.

If you require proof of attendance or simply a record, we recommend printing your certificates; you receive one certificate per evaluated session.

This option will be available in the AMSN Online Library, under CNE Transcript (located in the Your Account box in the upper left of screen.

If you need additional proof, bring a form from your employer and bring to the registration desk.

Certification Review Course

Is the Certification Review Course going to be offered at the convention?

The Certification Review Course will now only be offered every other year. The next Review Course will take place at our 2018 convention.

Convention App

Will AMSN offer an app for this convention?

As in previous years, AMSN will offer an app for the convention. Further details will be emailed to you when information becomes available.

Financial Questions

I think I was overcharged when I registered.

Please use the AMSN Annual Convention Questions Form with your concern and the National Office will assist you.

I need an invoice so my employer can pay.

Complete a convention registration form and submit to your employer for payment.

I need a receipt for my employer.

You should have received a receipt automatically at your primary email address (check your spam folder).

Can I substitute a co-worker since I can no longer attend?

Please send an email to amsn@amsn.org with the following:

  • Name of current registrant (yourself, or your employee)
  • Name of person who will be replacing that individual
  • Completed registration form of the replacement attendee (print the form and write in the margin “replacing [registrant’s name], already registered.” This can be sent via mail, fax, or email (see address below).
  • If new sessions are not selected, the replacement attendee will be given the sessions originally chosen.

Member/regular rates still apply, a difference must be paid if need be.

I/My facility sent payment a month ago and I haven’t heard anything.

First, please check your spam folder. Sometimes the email is blocked or filtered to spam.

If you don’t find it there, and you think your facility has sent a check and you still have questions, the National Office will assist you.

Please use the AMSN Annual Convention Questions Form and supply the check number, date, amount, facility name, and name of the attendee.

I need a W9 form.

The W9 Form - Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification is available for download.

The form is pre-populated with 2017 Conference information for your employer. Please note, this form is still valid for 2017.
